Job description
As the Director of Data Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in managing customer-related data flows across the Sinclair Digital ecosystem. You will oversee the collection, analysis, and utilization of various types of data, including anonymous and first-party data, platform data, analytics data, and performance data related to monetization. Additionally, you will lead a team of analysts responsible for extracting actionable insights from this data to inform strategic decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize data flows across our digital ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration and efficient utilization of customer data, first-party data, platform-agnostic telemetry, analytical tools, and monetization data.
- Lead the design and implementation of data collection systems, processes, and tools to capture and store relevant data accurately and securely.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, BI teams, leadership, and stakeholders to identify data needs and requirements for various initiatives and business objectives.
- Oversee the development, unification, standardization, and maintenance of data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes/platforms.
- Manage a team of analysts responsible for conducting data analysis, generating insights, and producing reports to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Lead developing and implementing robust data governance frameworks, privacy policies, and compliance procedures to safeguard sensitive data and mitigate regulatory risks.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of data-related initiatives and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data management, analytics, and digital media to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, growth, and excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS) preferred.
- At least 5 years of data analyst and management experience required.
- Proven track record of success in managing data-related initiatives within the digital media industry, with a focus on customer data, including first-party and/or third-party data flows, site and app telemetry, and revenue performance.
- Extensive experience with data management platforms (DMPs), customer relationship management (CRM) systems, Customer Data Platform (CDP), data analytics tools, and business intelligence (BI) platforms.
- Broad understanding of data privacy regulations and prior experience collaborating with data compliance and privacy operations.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively lead and develop a team of analysts.
- Working experience with GA, GAM, Power BI, Tableau, Data Cloud, and/or BigQuery is desired.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Analytical and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive results in a rapidly evolving industry landscape.
- Capability to function effectively within a matrix organizational structure.

The base salary for this role is $180,000 to $190,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
