Job description
The Hatch Group, Inc. is looking to add to our team in the form of Junior Mechanic. This person will work independently, under the supervision of our Lead Mechanic and Shop Manager to assist in the successful maintenance, repair and diagnostic work of vehicles and heavy equipment.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent time-management, communication and problem-solving abilities who thrives in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities: - Preventative Maintenance: This position includes completing preventative maintenance to fleet vehicles such as trucks, tractor trailers, and heavy construction equipment such as oil changes, fluid changes, and filter replacements
- Diagnostics: Our Junior Mechanic will be on the road as needed to assist with diagnosing equipment and vehicle issues on site and aid in the swift repair of issue
- Willingness to Learn: Ready to learn and develop your career? Working alongside our team of mechanics, this role will be able to expand their knowledge of mechanics on a variety of diesel and gas engines
- Routine Check-Ins: Routinely check in with operators and drivers to check fleet vehicles and equipment for minor and major defects in operation and logging repairs and maintenance in fleet tracking system
- Seasonal Equipment Maintenance: Part of our business needs requires seasonal breakdown and set up of various types of equipment such as plows and sanders. This role will head this process for timely preparation as seasonally necessary.
Scheduling: This position must be available Monday - Friday from 7AM-4PM and occasional weekend availability. Overtime available during some seasons. During the winter months our team needs to be available 24/7 due to snow storms. Our mechanics will be on-call during snow events to make sure equipment and vehicles are in optimal operating condition.
Requirements: - Basic mechanical knowledge of engines and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Versatility and resourcefulness to diagnose and correct emergency breakdowns
- Basic computer / app skills and knowledge
- Experience with Fleetio, preferred
- High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
- Vocational School or Mechanical Degree, a plus
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Long periods of standing or crouching in various positions
