The laboratory of Dr. Stanley Lee () in the Hematologic Malignancies Program of the Translational Science and Therapeutics (TST) Division is recruiting a  Research Technician II . We are seeking highly motivated individuals who will bring their knowledge and laboratory skills to study the molecular pathogenesis and therapeutics of age-related blood diseases. The Lee lab studies how derangement in gene regulation drives blood diseases such as myelodysplasia (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The laboratory combines hematopoietic stem cell biology assays, in vivo murine models, cell culture, genome editing techniques, functional genomics and single-cell genomics assays to study pathways relating to RNA processing and transcriptional regulation (PMIDs: 37967363 , 30107174 , 27135740 , 27603132 , 31334570) to identify novel treatments for blood cancers.

A successful Research Technician II candidate will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to conduct experiments. The responsibilities will include assisting designing and performing experiments, assisting in research assays, analyzing data, keeping detailed laboratory records, maintaining laboratory equipment, reagents and stocks, and supporting other on-going laboratory projects and events. Routine tasks include mouse husbandry, genotyping, flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology work, data analysis and laboratory maintenance. The Research Technician will work directly with the Principal Investigator and other members of the laboratory.

 

The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, proactive, detail-oriented and must be adapt at working in a team environment. The candidate will have opportunities to interact with researchers from other Programs within the TST Division. Candidates considering advanced training such as medical school and/or graduate school are highly encouraged to apply. Previous research experience in the use of in vivo models for studying cancer biology, flow cytometry, related areas is highly desired.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.71 to $36.60 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
