Job description

Kelly Services, Inc., is seeking a Scientist in Bethesda, Maryland to join our team to design molecular or cellular laboratory experiments form In vitro and In vivo, oversee their execution, and interpret results: (i) Conduct research on cellular function, including but not limited to cell signaling, and cell differentiation; (ii) Developing the protocols of mitochondrial isolation, techniques, and identified a novel molecular mechanism of mitochondrial dysfunction that implicated the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases; and (iii) Perform animal experiments in mouse and/or rat models of Parkinson’s disease. Carry out confocal and fluorescence microscopy. Collaborate on the updating and creating standard operating procedures. Work with Principal Investigator (PI) and staff on the Laboratory of Neurogenetics (LNG) within the National Institute of Aging (NIA) in the NIH on the design of experiments, data analysis, routine progress reports and manuscript preparation (as an active co-author if applicable). Operate laboratory equipment to analyze samples. Present analysis results and data visualization at laboratory meetings. Update and maintains laboratory notebooks and databases. Support training of fellows in mouse breeding colony management, and in cell culture, and review/assist in design of experiments. Attend lab meetings, present results, and findings to staff.

Qualified applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Science, Cell Biology, or a foreign equivalent and two years of experience working as a Scientist, Researcher, or a substantially similar position, performing the following duties: Performing animal experiments in mouse and/or rat models; conducting research on cellular function, including cell signaling and cell differentiation; carrying out confocal and fluorescence microscopy; operating laboratory equipment to analyze samples; creating standard operating procedures; presenting analysis results and data visualization at laboratory meetings; updating and maintaining laboratory notebooks and databases; reviewing and assisting in the design of experiments; and working collaboratively with the external institutions and scientists on cooperative research activities. Teleworking is permitted 20% of the time for this position.
