Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Validation engineer is responsible for the development and test execution of product environmental and EMC test plans for all assigned projects. Additional responsibilities may include design and development of test systems used to execute the

environmental and EMC tests.

JOB FUNCTIONS 

· Review and analyze product requirements to design and develop testing artifacts and provide input to product development teams on missing/deficient requirements.

· Develop DV /PV plan and in compliance with Magna processes and customer test standards.

· Manage all testing and interfaces with external laboratories to ensure all tests and their results are executed & reported properly.

· Enter defects into the defect tracking tool and support defect analysis and debug activities with cross functional team.

· Perform data analysis on test results and present to the development teams/ customer as required/

· Develop project test schedule, and timing plans and use to track all testing deliverables.

· Develop and release all relevant validation engineering deliverables in compliance with Global Product Engineering Process (GPEP) and customer expectations

· Support new project quotation development activities as required.

· Design, develop, and deploy validation testers, load boxes etc. to perform environmental and/or EMC testing for various products.

· Support the design and development of test infrastructure hardware and software including load boards, load mounting, fixtures, plumbing, manual/electronic flow control, temperature, flow rate, viscosity, etc. Sensors and actuators in partnership with electrical, mechanical software and EMC engineering teams.

· Interface with cross functional engineering & manufacturing teams to ensure test requirements are specified and implemented correctly.

· Participate in process action teams as part of the global product engineering development process improvement activity.

· Participates in continuous improvement efforts, researches, recommends and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs.

· Generate and maintain all necessary validation engineering documentation and data to ensure traceability and compliance to company procedures (e.g. Process-work instructions) and applicable standards (e.g ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504)

· Perform work assignments as a highly competent engineer, requiring independent design of validation test equipment and validation testing of products.

· Work assignments primarily involve intermediate through advanced level work, moving toward complete technical competency and mastery of the field.

· Mentors and coaches junior team members as well as peers in field of expertise.

· Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.

· Maintains regular attendance.

· Follows safe work procedures; Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); Uses workplace tools and equipment as instructed; Reports workplace hazards, injuries and illness as soon as possible following event.

· Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS

Education/Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or demonstrated equivalent skills (Master’s preferred)

· 15+ years’ relevant experience regarding the responsibility activities for automotive electronics serial development projects

· Level to be considered based on years of experience

Technical Knowledge

· Working knowledge of: DMM, Oscilloscope, Video Scope etc.

· Hybrid, Hydraulic (e.g Water/Oil/vacuum etc. Automotive pumps or ECU (e.g. Body/Chassis/telematics) Product/test experience.

· ADAS products development/testing experience desired

· Experience with automotive requirements and design preferred.

· Working knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field.

· Comprehensive knowledge of customer environment requirements (e.g. GMW3172, CS-1189, CETP 00.00-E-412, etc.)

· Working knowledge of ISO/IEC Standards

· Working knowledge of configuration management, and project monitoring and control techniques (preferably PTC/MKS)

Practical Knowledge

· Working knowledge in planned and structured approach

· Working knowledge of problem solving techniques

· Key Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) – as applicable

· Able to travel (domestic and international may be needed)

Computer Skills

· Matlab/Simulink, dSpace, Labview, model based development tools.

· CAN, LIN and other automotive networks and related tools.

· Advanced knowledge of MS Office package

Language/Communication

· Comprehensive knowledge of English (verbal and written) · For positions located in non-English speaking locations, knowledge of the local working language is an asset. · Advanced knowledge (verbal &written) of local language required. Magna Policy and Procedure Knowledge
