Our client near Harvard, MA is looking to add a Quality Manager to their growing team. Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or another related field. Candidates should also come with at least 7 years experience in quality assurance in a food manufacturing environment, and 3 years of being a supervisor. Candidates will be managing a team of 10 employees in the Quality department while reviewing audits and operational procedures. responsibilities:
- Directly supervises a team of up to 10 non-exempt employees in the Quality department, carrying out managerial responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Manages various aspects, including directing, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and overseeing work; conducting performance appraisals; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Creates and implements Quality programs, SOPs, and guidelines for the plant.
- Guides the Quality Supervisor in product testing for qualities such as microbiological, physical, and chemical characteristics.
- Reviews and audits sanitation and operational practices and procedures.
- Evaluates data and generates reports to validate or identify deviations from existing standards.
- Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards to optimize quality within equipment capabilities.
- Monitors the pest control program through an external licensed agency.
- Implements written specifications for raw materials in process and finished goods.
- Conducts Quality GMP Trainings.
- Develops and updates procedures and manuals for the Quality Assurance Department.
- Assists with capability studies on machinery or existing processes.
- Directs all responses to customer complaints to the consumer affairs group.
- Oversees computer activities, including file maintenance, reports, and system requirements.
- Maintains a superior-rated level of GMPs and sanitation, prepared for regulatory/customer inspections at any time.
- Ensures maintenance and validation of the plant's HACCP Program.
- Maintains compliance and certification to the SQF GFSI food safety standard.
- Reviews all organic and Kosher guidelines and the certification process.
- Develops and oversees experiments and plant tests.
- Adheres to all safety and GMP policies and protocols.
