Job description
MGC Contractors, Inc is looking for experienced field engineer/surveyor to join our Utah Division.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Field Engineer
- Provide technical support to construction staff under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Superintendent.
- Review plans and other technical documents.
- Assist with work package assembly.
- Answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project.
- Assist in monitoring costs and project progress.
- Perform a variety of tasks, including items related to safety, permits, submittals, O&M manuals, material procurement, RFIs, construction scheduling, progress meetings, and budgeting.
Surveyor
- Perform onsite layout and basic surveying tasks.
- Create accurate AutoCAD drawings to the appropriate State Plane Coordinate System.
- Set and/or verify control points and benchmarks.
- Record accurate as-build information with Total Station or GNSS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment requiring the ability to communicate in person and over the telephone with other employees, the ability to interpret printed materials and a computer screen, the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, the ability to lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds and to move about the inside of the office to access supplies, office machinery, etc.
- This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone. The ability to read printed materials, signs and directions. The stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
- This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime may be required as job duties demand.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least five (5) years of field engineer/surveyor experience in a similar field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
- Proficient with AutoCAD.
- Proficient with surveying equipment (Auto Level, Total Station, GNSS, Theodolite).
- Effective Communication Skills both oral and written, and quick response time to inquiries.
- Passing a pre-employment drug screen is required.
