POSITION OVERVIEW: As an Information Technology Technician I at Lake Area Technical College you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of Lake Area Technical College's IT systems. You will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and helping end-users with their IT needs. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated, friendly, and technology-savvy individual to start their career in the IT field.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum of Associate's degree in Computer Science or three years' work experience in an information technology related field.
- A + Certification or the ability to earn the certification required. Microsoft and Cisco experience or certifications a plus.
- Experience with computer imaging and application configurations for networked campus environment preferred.
- Ability to explain technical issues in user-friendly manner.
- Troubleshooting experience and the ability to work on multiple challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, creative thinking and problem-solving skills, dedication to working with a diverse population of students, and collaboration with Lake Area Technical College coworkers in a team environment.
- This position may require occasional on-call or after-hours support.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move computer equipment.
- A professional and customer-focused personality is essential.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage time in a efficient manner.
- Bilingual a plus.
- National Career Readiness Certificate level Silver or higher a plus.
REPORTS TO: Information Technology Director, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Support: Provide first-level technical support to on and off campus end-users, addressing hardware and software issues promptly and professionally.
Hardware Maintenance: Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
Software Support: Assist in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of various software applications and operating systems.
User Training: Provide basic training to end-users on software and hardware usage, ensuring they can operate their systems effectively.
Network Support: Assist in network troubleshooting and provide basic network support, including user account management and connectivity issues.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of IT support requests, solutions provided, and equipment inventory.
Remote Support: Offer remote assistance and resolve issues through remote desktop tools.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with Lake Area Technical College and Watertown School District policies and procedures regarding information security and data protection.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT team members and departments to resolve complex technical issues.
Total Campus: Assist Lake Area Tech staff and faculty with large campus events, virtually and in person.
Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 229 Day contract with salary/benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
