Position Overview
If you are a Hospitality Superstar and love the outdoors, join our team in New York at the Neversink River Resort, just an hour and a half from New York City! Our Group Sales Manager will report to, and be supported by, our General Manager in the comprehensive journey of group bookings. You will be responsible for leading and managing the group sales efforts to achieve revenue targets and maximize sales opportunities. Your primary focus will be on driving group bookings and establishing strong relationships with corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners, and other potential group customers. Your expertise in sales strategies and exceptional communication skills will contribute to the success and growth of our resort. This position is remote based and requires extensive travel to the property and to the NYC and Hudson Valley markets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- As with all positions on our team, live Team Outsider’s values while performing the responsibilities of your position.
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to attract and secure group bookings for the resort. Your goal will be to generate group bookings on weekdays. For weekend business you will coordinate directly with the General Manager to determine if revenue will meet the appropriate threshold.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners, and other potential group customers to generate leads and increase group bookings.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, sales presentations, and targeted campaigns to support group sales efforts.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with group clients, ensuring profitable and mutually beneficial agreements for the resort.
- Coordinate with other resort departments to ensure seamless execution of group events, including accommodation, dining, meeting facilities, and recreational activities.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales process, responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and resolving issues to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to represent the resort and expand the network of potential group clients.
- Track weekly activities and relationship to revenue and room night production.
- Set day-to-day priorities to complete assigned responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as appropriate.
Experience & Requirements
- A passion for and understanding of Team Outsider’s mission and values.

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field OR
- Proven experience in sales or business development within the hospitality industry, preferably in a resort or hotel environment.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The right candidate will successfully book a minimum of $500,000 in group revenue in a calendar year
- Results-driven mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- In-depth knowledge of group sales strategies, market trends, and customer preferences.
- Familiarity with reservation systems, CRM software, and sales analytics tools.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business demands.
- Willingness to travel for industry events and client visits
- Are an open and honest communicator, with strong speaking and writing skills.
- Are unflappable while multitasking, and have exceptional organizational skills.

Our Benefits
- Commission Policy: The Group Sales Manager (GSM) will be eligible for commission based on the revenue generated from qualified group bookings. The commission percentage will be determined based on the total revenue generated by the property from the booking. Your focus will be to generate revenue on weekdays. For weekend business you will coordinate directly with the General Manager to determine if revenue will meet the appropriate threshold. Ultimate sign-off will be at the General Manager’s discretion.
- Technology Allowance: You will receive an annual allowance of $250 to be used at your discretion for the purchase of technology to be used for your personal and professional enjoyment.
- Education Allowance: You will receive an annual allowance of $250 to be used at your discretion for the purchase of items that benefit your personal and professional development.
- Cell Phone Allowance: You will receive an allowance of $50 per month for business use of your personal cell phone.
- 401K Plan: You will have access to the Company’s 401K plan, including a Company match of up to 4.0%.
- Health Insurance: You will be able to participate in the Company's health insurance plan 60 days after your start date.
