Job description

This is a 100% Limited Appointment. This appointment may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs and funding of the department.

This is a 100% limited position anticipated to last no longer than six (6) months. However, if funding is available, this position may be extended.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Division of Biological Sciences is comprised of four academic sections, (Cell and Developmental Biology, Ecology Behavior and Evolution, Molecular Biology, and Neurobiology) which reflect broad foci in faculty research and in the academic programs offered by the Division. Each section is headed by a Chair who works individually to represent their section, and works collaboratively as a member of the Division's Council of Chairs (COC) on those Divisional concerns which cross the boundaries of section governance. The Division has 90 faculty FTE and approximately 5000 undergraduate students in 8 majors, with annual enrollments of approximately 30,000.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the incumbent will work as the Research Project Manager in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and in conjunction with the group's research associates, making innovative contributions pertaining to lab and/or research procedures aimed at understanding developmental patterning using Drosophilia as a model to understand human disease processes. Major responsibilities include: act as work lead for the Postdocs, researchers, and staff, overseeing and conducting experiments utilizing Active Genetics CRISPR/Cas9 technology through routine biochemistry and molecular biology procedures such as DNA isolation, recombination-based cDNA cloning, bacterial transformation and growth, PCR, Gibson assembly, constructing Copycat elements,and trans-complementing MCRs and ERACRs. In addition, when appropriate, the incumbent will assist in the preparation of scientific manuscripts based on experiments performed and participate in laboratory meetings and journal discussions.
