Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities and Duties - Providing quality patient care
- Entering medical notes
- Triage appointments
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment and surgical areas
- Kennel and hospital maintenance
- Drawing blood or collecting other lab samples
- General nursing duties
- Animal handling and restraining
- In-house and outside laboratory testing
- X-ray Hospital Standards and Protocols
- Dentistry monitoring
- Obtain history and vital signs for patient exams
- Assist doctors during patient exams
- Help maintain the flow of patients throughout hospital
- Educate clients about preventative care
- Filling prescriptions
- Restocking supplies
- Cross-training in all areas of the hospital
Requirements - Compassionate and proficient patient care
- Comfortable handling both cats and dogs
- Strong communication skills
- Organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to multitask
- Flexibility (ability to work weekends)
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of veterinary software (e.g. Neo, AVImark, Cornerstone)
- Strong customer service skills
- Work well in a team environment
- Remain calm under pressure
Preferred / Nice-To-Haves - 2+ years veterinary assistant and/or veterinary receptionist experience
- Certification with an accredited program
