POSITION:PART TIME DENTAL ASSISTING LABORATORY ASSISTANT



REPORTS TO: DENTAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Summer Semester (May 20, 2024 – July 24, 2024)

Assures that students are taught and evaluated using the laboratory objectives outlined for each course. Reports to and provides a periodic performance appraisal to the Dental Assisting program director. Becomes familiar with program goals and understands laboratory assignments. Offers a positive professional attitude toward students and teaching. Attends meetings as necessary for program planning. Provides proper student counseling with the program director when needed. Assists in teaching laboratory sessions and additional lab practice sessions agreed upon by the program director. Keeps accurate student records and submits related reports and forms within requested timeframes. Other duties as assigned by the program director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must maintain a current Healthcare Provider BLS certificate. The candidate must possess the current credential of “Certified Dental Assistant” issued by the Dental Assisting National Board. A licensed dentist applying for this position is not required to obtain the credential of “Certified Dental Assistant”. In addition, the candidate must be a graduate of a CODA-accredited Dental Assisting program, RDH, or Dentist.

Candidates must attach a copy of their CPR card, DANB card, and a copy of their dental assisting diploma. Applicants who do not submit a completed application and all required documentation by the established closing date will be excluded from consideration for the position.



COMPETENCIES:



Physical Demands
The employee lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight, up to 20 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.


This position is available at Hall Campus; day and evening classes available. NOTE: Lab Assistant positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment that are appointed on a per-academic-term basis.
