Internal Recruitment to UC Davis Joe and Essie Smith Endowed Chair

Position Overview:
INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS ONLY : The Joe and Essie Smith Endowed Chair in the Department of Chemical Engineering provides additional funding to a current UC Davis academic appointee who is early in his/her career, but has already established his/her potential as a scholar. The endowment payout will support the chair's efforts in research and teaching and further the mission of the Department of Chemical Engineering and the campus.

INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY:

The University of California Davis, School of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering is recruiting for an internal full-time faculty member to serve as the holder of the Joe and Essie Smith Endowed Chair in fundamental chemical engineering sciences.
Holder will have the following responsibilities:

• Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of chemical engineering.
  
• Teach three courses a year in the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
  
• Conduct research in the area of fundamental chemical engineering sciences and perform service to the Department of Chemical Engineering and the broader community in which it is situated.
  
• Provide leadership in the area of chemical engineering and be fully engaged in activities in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
  
• Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.
  Required candidate qualifications:
  Be an existing professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering who is early in his/her career (assistant to associate professor); expected that candidate will advance at least normally through the faculty ranks on the basis of his/her scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service.

  Term is five years, with no option of reappointment.
