Job description

Job Summary: Wilkinson Cadillac Chevrolet Buick GMC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our accounting team in Sanford, North Carolina. As an Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for providing financial support to our dealership by assisting our controller in day-to-day operations such as managing accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures. This is a full-time, hourly position in the auto industry and will be an individual contributor role. Compensation & Benefits

Responsibilities

• Assist the controller in preparing and maintaining financial records and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, and ensure accuracy of financial data
• Review and analyze vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and other financial documents
• Help maintain inventory control and reconcile inventory counts with financial records
• Ensure compliance with all accounting procedures, policies, and regulations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Collaborate with other departments to gather and analyze financial information for decision-making purposes
• Provide support during audits and maintain all necessary documentation
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in accounting practices
• Assist the controller with payroll and HR as needed
• Assist the controller with daily floorplan payoffs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred but not required)
• 2-5 years of experience working in an accounting role, preferably in an automotive dealership
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with CDK DMS system is preferred but not required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Experience with inventory control and dealership operations is a plus
• Strong desire to look for solutions to daily challenges
