Job Title: Component Engineer
Location: Sugar Land, TX
Duration: 12months
Job Description;
- Identifying new technology components SOC/IC by keeping up to date on industry developments and trends
- Identifying technologies matching specific hardware requirements and environments (ex. uC synchronization in a downhole
environment)
- Developing and executing component qualification plans for new or unqualified technologies for high reliability applications
- Interfacing with internal and external failure analysis (FA) labs to investigate root cause failure and providing recommendations to
product groups based on the findings
- Managing communications between technology product teams, supply chain, and supporting technology groups (ex. Design for
Test, Design for Manufacturing, process knowledge centers)
- Advising design engineers in the selection of electronic components based on the electrical performance
requirements, proper component usage based on the application environment (i.e electrical de-rating), and overall reliability.
- Assisting with obsolescence reviews for existing designs
- Reviewing quality test reports of packaged components and/or dies
- Providing technical assistance to contracted tests labs and manufacturers
Required Education/Experience/Skills
- B.S. or M.S. Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar
- Knowledge of component failure modes, component reliability, and component specifications and standards.
- Knowledge of Hardware circuit board design basics.
- Understanding of passive components, microcircuit, hybrid, semiconductor, and discrete device fabrication.
- Knowledge of components used in high-reliability, automotive, or downhole environments
- Knowledge of accelerated reliability testing, reliability theory, and component failure analysis
- Experience with Cadence PSpice and component modeling, LabView, and/or Python is a plus
- Familiarity with the usage and automation of various test equipment including power supplies, ovens, LCR meters, DMMs, and
oscilloscopes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
