JOB POSITION :       Lead Engineer

LOCATION :             1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403

DUTIES :                    Design, develop, and test software systems that help solve complex problems within product development; develop automated tests (performance and integration tests) to test the systems developed and ensure they work as expected; Identify development issues, brainstorm solutions, and recommend changes for optimal functionality; apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized areas of Target’s technology domain; evaluate new technologies and participate in software decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target’s technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership; lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of software services; conduct design and code review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level; perform functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable software design decisions; participate in construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met; writing complex code and completing programming; and use technical problem-solving skills to influence team software decisions and help software teams triage operational issues. Tools/technologies used: Kotlin, Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, UI frameworks, SQL/PL, React, Spring Boot, Fastify, Flake, Kafka, JUnit, Spring, Mockito, Jest, Spock, K6, Confluence. May telecommute from any location in the U.S.

REQUIREMENTS :  This position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field and at least seven (7) years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in software engineering/systems engineering (any title) including at least five (5) years of experience analyzing, designing, programming and modifying software enhancements; maintaining architectural diagrams; leveraging TDD (test driven development); completing documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance; writing code; performing testing and debugging of applications; and using Java, SQL/PL, Spring Boot, Spring, JavaScript, and UI Framework.
