Job description

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and servers. This role involves ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems to support the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    System Administration:

•     Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, network devices, and other IT equipment.

•     Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.

•     Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as applying software updates, patches, and security fixes.

2.    Network Management:

•     Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

•     Monitor network traffic and security to detect and mitigate potential threats.

•     Implement and enforce network policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

3.    Security Management:

•     Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT systems from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches.

•     Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses.

•     Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and best practices.

4.    User Support:

•     Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with IT-related inquiries.

•     Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels according to established policies.

•     Train employees on IT systems and tools to enhance their productivity and efficiency.

5.    Backup and Disaster Recovery:

•     Establish and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and continuity of operations.

•     Test backup systems and procedures regularly to verify their effectiveness and reliability.

•     Develop and update disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.

6.    Documentation and Reporting:

•     Create and maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

•     Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and IT service metrics for management review.

•     Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to IT systems and data management.

7. Hardware and Software Support:

Provide technical support for end-users, including hardware and software installations, upgrades, and issue resolution.

Collaborate with vendors to ensure seamless integration of dental software and technology solutions.

Occasional Travel:

Willingness to undertake occasional travel to various organizational locations for system upgrades, installations, and team collaboration.

Qualifications:

•     Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

•     Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator or similar role.

•     Strong knowledge of networking protocols, systems administration, and security principles.

•     Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), virtualization technologies, and cloud services.

•     Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

•     Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

•     Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, Server+ or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) are a plus.
