Job description
Responsible for coding and charging Emergency Room medical records according to coding guidelines to ensure accurate and timely codes for bills to be processed. Reviews medical record documentation, assigns appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes, and investigates and resolves diagnosis coding issues. Position is 100% remote in the USA.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Assigns codes in accordance with ICD – 10, CPT, and E/M coding guidelines to provide statistical information for research, reimbursement and analysis of quality of care.
2. Investigates and resolves coding issues.
3. Acts as a liaison between coding guidelines and codes.
4. Charges all services performed in the ER.
5. Maintains 95% accuracy or better in all work.
6. Works in EPIC, 3M360 CAC to process all cases.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. AHIMA coding certification- CCA, CCS, RHIT or AAPC certification CPC
3. Minimum 1 year of coding experience in an acute care setting or relevant.
4. Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, disease processes.
5. Proficiency in CPT4, E/M, ICD-10 coding.
Preferred:
1. Prior EPIC and 3M360 CAC experience preferred
