What you'll do...
The Walmart Corporate Global Audit Services Internship is a highly visible 11-week program designed to provide experiential learning and development opportunities for undergraduates. A summer internship with Walmart means an opportunity to explore a career as part of the world’s largest retailer! We are looking for students who are strong problem solvers who can deliver solutions to complex, challenging problems. All internships are located at the Walmart Corporate office in Bentonville, Arkansas. As an intern, you will have an opportunity to work on challenging and innovative projects that will drive our business forward.
- Interns will put classroom theory to the test by working on real business issues, as they relate to finance, accounting, governance, IT or operational risk. Each intern will work on one or multiple strategically relevant projects that impact not only our business, but our customers.
- Within Global Audit Services, you will have the opportunity to participate in the full life cycle of an audit project. You will be given specific project responsibilities, which range from planning the audit engagement to writing the audit report. Through the audit project, you will develop a thorough understanding of how to evaluate and control risk. You will deliver the results of the audit to Senior Audit and Business leadership and help to recommend actions plans to resolve issues.
- Throughout your internship, you will receive leadership development, professional mentorship and technical training via cohort-based learning environments. Interns will gain exposure to the CFO and other officers through the Finance Leadership Speaker series. In addition, you will gain valuable insight into all aspects of the Audit department, through direct interaction with current associates, and have an opportunity to see their career paths first-hand.
- The Corporate Intern Program sponsors many company-wide events that allow you to learn more about Walmart and socialize with interns from across the company.
- i.e. Executive Speaker Series, Community Volunteering, Intern/Executive Softball Game, Distribution Center tour, Naturals Baseball game.
Preferred Majors: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or other Information Technology-related field.
During the 11-week internship, students will:
- Gain an understanding of the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of our business
- Become aware of associate needs and participate in discussions to address identified gaps
- Manage key milestones and deliverables related to their assigned internship project
- Take initiative, remain bold in their ideas, and actively participate in all discussions
- Conduct internal and external research/benchmarking as appropriate
- Partner with other associates across teams/functions to identify solutions and present recommendations
- Build their network of professionals across the enterprise and receive direct exposure to several leaders
- Receive support and guidance from a host of individuals including mentors and a dedicated Program Manager
