About the Job This is a reporting specialist position within the University
of Minnesota Foundation's (UMF) Information Technology (IT) department. The department administers the donor and alumni database of over a
million records for the University of Minnesota on an enterprise-wide level. The systems include the donor management, fund accounting, and
data warehouse applications. These systems are designed, built, and supported using state-of-the-art web-based technologies and are used by
over 1,800 active users on five campuses. The highly sophisticated web system utilizes Oracle databases and development tools.
The
primary responsibilities of this position are: (1) under direct supervision, provide day-to-day database query and reporting support for
mission critical applications, (2) write and test ad hoc reports, (3) support existing application programs in a web environment, (4)
document processes and communicate with end users.
Starting salary: $58,000- 62,000 based on
experience. Responsibilities Query Support (70%)
- Create ad hoc reports using SQL
for users, including communicating directly with them to clarify needs and provide expertise on data to drive insights into
fundraising
- Evaluate Foundation and user data requirements and develop analytical and reporting tools to address
needs
- Develop, deploy, and maintain reports and datasets that support data analysis and visualization
- Develop and maintain a
thorough working knowledge of the donor management database and how it is used to support development and alumni
activities
Program Creation and Maintenance (20%)
- Develop and execute test plans, troubleshooting when
necessary
- Assist with research related to user needs
- Ensure overall data classification compliance and data
integrity
- Write new SQL script, procedures and packages to address data requests
- Maintain and debug existing application
programs
Documentation and Communication (10%)
- Create technical and user documentation for new programs,
functionalities and requirements
- Assist with communication and presentations for end users

Qualifications Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or a combination of related
education and work experience in the areas of business or systems process analysis to equal four years
- Demonstrated skills in
relational database technology and SQL
- Skills in a programming language
- Demonstrated excellent customer service orientation,
including listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to create work plans and manage deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to learn
quickly and to independently develop solutions, analyze alternative solutions, and make recommendations
- Excellent attention to
detail
- Demonstrated experience working well in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational
levels
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience with the following software:
- Oracle 10G or
above
- PL/SQL, HTML, Java Script, Oracle APEX, or other scripting language
- Experience using a fundraising software
or donor management database
- Experience working in a non-profit or higher education environment
