Job description

DESCRIPTION : St. Paul’s School seeks a science teacher to begin duties in late August 2024. The primary responsibility will be to teach in the core sciences of biology, chemistry, and/or physics at the secondary level. St. Paul’s offers a core sequence of physics in the first year of high school, followed by chemistry and biology. In addition to those sciences, the science department also offers courses in computer programming, astronomy, engineering, and robotics. The core sciences aim to prepare students to be curious science students who take an inquiring perspective about the world and are inspired to take more science courses. 

RESPONSIBILITIES : The primary responsibility will be to teach three yearlong courses and one term of an elective in the science department. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment working with other science teachers and with the broader faculty in advancing the mission of the School and the commitment to teaching and learning in a holistic educational environment. Preference will be given to candidates who have an understanding of boarding school life. As with all positions, St. Paul’s Schools seeks educators who will embrace the fully residential living experience and have a demonstrated gift for engaging a diverse student body and strengthening the St. Paul’s School inclusive community.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Bachelor’s Degree or higher in biology, physics, or chemistry, Masters degree preferred.

Experience: Five or more years teaching science at the secondary level. Lively interest in current pedagogy and scholarship. As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be committed to working and living with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
