Astra Surveying is a rapidly growing full service surveying company specializing mostly in construction. We are seeking a dynamic team member for a New Mexico Licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper position to expand our operations. This position will be considered a senior team member that will oversee our operations and lead the growth in New Mexico.
This position will:
- Manage survey project managers, survey crews and CAD technicians along with assisting the President with the day to day business operations.
- Oversee surveys in order to establish and map boundaries for properties, topographic studies, construction features, etc. Including Maps, Reports, Legal Descriptions, etc.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey and construction sites.
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, 3D Modeling, and other characteristics and aspects of a Construction Project. Confirm accuracy of surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
- Search legal records, survey records, plans, specifications, land titles, etc. in order to obtain information about property boundaries and other items of interest specific to the tasks to be surveyed.
- Verify accuracy of longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas, using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).
- Assist in establishing and developing criteria for survey methods and procedures, equipment maintenance, etc. as well as specifications of surveying equipment, Data Collection and CAD tools to be used in drafting and modeling.
- Oversee aerial surveys, photography and photogrametry for the purpose of mapping and volumetric calculations.
Job Description:
- Oversee land surveys with emphasis on quality and proper survey methodology.
- Identify controls for property lines and make the appropriate decisions regarding how to proceed with the survey.
- Collect and assign all necessary information needed to complete the survey task in a proper and efficient manner.
- Perform necessary calculations essential to the practice of surveying.
- Provide coordination with clients, contractors and office staff for multiple projects at a time.
- Prepare estimates for various types of surveying services including ALTA Surveys, platting, topographic surveys, construction staking, as-built surveys, data calculation, etc.
- Communicate with management, clients and assigned survey field crews, in a positive manner, to maximize efforts related scope and budget.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications:
- Four year degree in Geometrics or related field
- Licensed as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper in the State of New Mexico required
- Experience in right-of-way mapping, control surveys, engineering design surveys, utility mapping, boundary, and topographic surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, platting, condominium documents, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
- Knowledge of Robotic total station, GPS, and automatic levels for data collection, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.
