Senior Cost Estimator
Introduction:
The Senior Cost Estimator for an EPM Solutions provider working on an Air Force contract is a vital position requiring specialized skills in cost estimation and analysis within the defense sector. The role involves collaborating closely with the Air Force and other government entities, requiring a comprehensive understanding of military contracts, defense procurement processes, and cost management strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cost estimation efforts for Air Force projects, ensuring accurate and reliable financial projections.
- Collaborate with Air Force personnel and other government stakeholders to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
- Analyze project requirements and specifications to develop detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and other resources.
- Apply advanced techniques in cost modeling, forecasting, and analysis to support proposal development and contract negotiations.
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of cost estimation databases and tools, ensuring they reflect current costs and industry standards.
- Participate in the review and analysis of contractor bids and proposals to ensure cost realism and competitiveness.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior cost estimators and team members, enhancing team capabilities and expertise.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements that may impact cost estimation processes and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one, as required by the contract.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, preferably within the defense sector and specifically with Air Force contracts.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools relevant to defense contracting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex estimation tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Air Force procurement processes, regulations, and standards.
- Experience with EPM (Enterprise Project Management) solutions, PMP certification, and direct experience with Air Force or other military branch projects.
