Time Base: Full Time
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.

About the Position:

University Outreach serves prospective and incoming students, and any other interested parties in the information seeking and application process, as it relates to the California State University system and Cal State Fullerton specifically. Our office provides campus tours, informational workshops, new and transfer student orientations and general information. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Outreach, Recruitment & Orientation (Administrator III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Manages a large department comprised of the following three units, Outreach and Recruitment, Welcome Center and Tours, and Orientation programs. Works independently and provides strategic direction and execution for the three units. Responsible for achieving department objectives and aligning them with university-wide goals, initiatives, and strategic enrollment management goals. Works independently and determines the overall direction of departmental activities in order to meet university goals and enrollment goals. Responsible for the overall administration of the three units and consults with the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Vice President of Student Affairs. Provides leadership for designing, planning, and implementing university-wide recruitment, yield, and orientation programs to assist students in their transition and adjustment to the campus. Provides oversight and management of university-wide orientation programs for first-time freshman and transfer students. Manages the organization, delivery and execution of all CSUF outreach and recruitment yield events. Manages the counseling unit that serves local service area high schools and community colleges, regional community partners, and serves as the liaison to the Chancellor's Office on major statewide outreach initiatives such as the Statewide Counselor Conferences and Super Sunday. Reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, for College Access and Career Pathways. Other duties assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a higher education-related field. A minimum of five years of experience in a college setting providing leadership for a student services program. Familiarity with budget and business financial guidelines to ensure department and programs operate within allocated funding levels.

Supervisory, leadership, and human resources experience to hire and oversee professional and student staff with the highest levels of professionalism and quality service, conduct in-service training and team building, implement policies and procedures, and manage a complex and large unit. Familiarity with computer and software programs to enhance department technology needs and utilize a student tracking database.

Possession of organizational skills to establish priorities, delegate workload, and manage multiple activities to meet departmental goals, objectives, and deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the analytical skills necessary for report writing, development of outreach, recruitment, and orientation materials, and conducting presentations/public speaking. Experience advising students and working.

Knowledge of student development, campus environments, enrollment management, community development, and student learning theories and application. Ability to build cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and administrators.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
