Job Description
Work and learn alongside our North American Engineering Services team to learn from and contribute to a large and diverse team using a service-oriented mindset. The Engineering Services team at KOSTAL of America provides a wide range of services to our diverse product portfolio including areas such as Systems Engineering, Functional Safety & Cybersecurity, Basic SW Development, Engineering Quality, Prototyping and Model Shop, Hardware Engineering as well as Software and Systems Validation.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Involvement in various aspects of Engineering Services excellence to KOSTAL product development teams
- Support engineering management in their field of expertise and responsibility with administrative as well as Engineering-focused projects to support overall team goals
- Become familiar with KOSTAL processes and tools and think of “outside the box” ways to improve usage of them
- Develop scripts and tools that support Engineering development team efficiency
- Support in development of training documentation in an easy to follow format for new and existing tools and processes
- Stay current in industry trends and provide feedback on how we can solve common development problems with existing solutions available in the market
- Use version control software; familiar with releasing and variant control of software
- Document involved research, design and implementation
- Ability to participate in software and/or hardware-related projects that contribute to the overall Engineering team goals and vision
- Use state of the art methods and tools to improve efficiency of Engineering teams
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Working towards a Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
- Experience in software programming applications either through coursework and/or work experience
- Experiences in EE and/or CS projects either through previous coursework and/or work experiences
- Able to develop scripts and tools to support Engineering
Additional Experience in the following is strongly desired:
- Experiences in control engineering, data processing, sensor fusion, machine learning and related applications either through previous research, coursework and/or work experiences
- Model-based development, Matlab/Simulink preferred
- Matlab tool boxes of Control, Data Processing, Machine Learning, etc.
- Linux OS, Python, AI tools, etc.
- Embedded software in Standard C language only (MISRA-compliant C)
- Software drivers: SPI, I2C, UART, motors, EEPROM
- Automotive CAN and LIN communication
- Vector CAN drivers – FNOS & FBL
- Vector tools CANoe (or CANalyzer), GENy, CANdela
- Knowledge of Hardware circuit design is a bonus
- Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence coursework or project experience is a plus
