Climate Action Energizer (Minimum-time AmeriCorps member)

Job description

CCAC Climate Action Energizers will work closely with CCAC staff, their host site supervisor, their AmeriCorps team leader, other AmeriCorps members, community partners, and campus staff and students to research and develop materials to support programming for SPARC’s forthcoming Sustainable Living Demonstration Home (SLDH). The SLDH will be a place where residents can tour a net-zero, fully electrified, and energy efficient home, and learn what technology, incentives and pathways can empower them to take climate action at home, and in their landscapes. CCAC Climate Action Energizers will also help to identify and build campus and community partnerships to provide community environmental education, and identify ways to improve at-risk ecosystems for underserved households and communities.

Term of Service: The anticipated start date is February, 2024. Members will have no later than July 31, 2024 to complete their hours, but can be completed as early as the end of Spring Semester 2024. As Minimum-time AmeriCorps members, CCAC Climate Action Energizers must complete 300 hours during the service term. The number of hours per week served depends on the start and end dates.

Location: Weber State University, Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC), 3921 Central Campus Drive, Ogden, Utah 84408-2913.

Benefits:

As Minimum-time AmeriCorps members completing 300 hours of service, Climate Action Energizers will receive a Segal Education Award of $1,459.26 The Segal Education Award is contingent upon the successful completion of the 300-hour program and can be used to pay for college or technical school or to pay back qualified student loans.
