Job Summary
Performs a wide variety of surveys including, boundary, route, geodetic control, construction, hydrographic, topographic, flood study, photo control and deformation with both GPS and conventional surveying methods.
Knowledge and application of fundamental surveying methods and procedures. Implements survey procedures using state-of-the-art surveying procedures and equipment
Performs surveying calculations, statistical, and mathematical analyses to reduce survey data, verify compliance with standards, and transform to proper coordinate systems. May provide assistance to others as they perform these activities. Presents data in a form that best meets customer requirements Products may be textual, tabular, or digital.
Performs other duties as required. May require overnight travel inside and outside the Tennessee Valley.
Supervision Received
Assignments are given with clear and specific guidelines, scope and goals. Completed work is then reviewed for sound professional judgment. During the course of coordinating the overall efforts of the entire project, the supervisor frequently observes the work in progress.
Skills and Proficiencies(May be job or organization specific)
Boundary survey law in the states where surveys are performed; Public Land Survey System; Surveying engineering principles and practices; GPS; Least squares adjustments; Photogrammetry control; Survey coordinate systems; Use of latest surveying and mapping technology and equipment; Logical/analytical
Thinking; National and state standards of practice; Written and oral communication; Effective team player
Minimum Qualifications(Consistent with Classification Standard)
Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements
A B.S. degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology or related field of study from an accredited university.
Completion of LSIT (Land Surveyor in Training) requirements and Lidar Experience is highly desirable.
Experience with Autocad Civil 3D is preferred.
