The Principal Engineer is a foremost technical expert in the Drop on Demand (DOD) Product Division. Working with our internal resources composed of system engineers, and technical experts as well as industrial and academic partners, the Principal Engineer researches and analyzes trends in industry products and applied research in the DOD area of expertise, to help define the strategic technical direction of MI products and methodologies.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

• In consultation with the Product Division director, build and propose a research plan, and to technically lead a cross-product multi-functional team to execute the research plan. 
• Supervision of engineers and technicians to deliver the research plan.
• Support the DOD product division projects by analyzing difficult technical problems, advising, and solving said problems with others in the Product Division.
• Support M-I DOD product division's projects by coaching technical experts (engineers, system engineers, etc.), helping them define the strategy for success, advising them on the partnerships to be deployed through personalized meetings based on the Project needs identified with the technical expert, systems engineer and/or project manager in charge. 
• Facilitates the implementation and improvement of best practices and tools to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the team's products, including increasing the use of both computer and physical modeling with model-based design and the scientific approach to problems. 
• Mentor and train technical experts, systems engineers, and engineers by improving their skills in physics, computer modeling, model-based design, fluid mechanics, rheology, piezoelectricity, and overall knowledge of inkjet. 
• Drive and promote technical knowledge of physical inkjet throughout the company. 
• Support through technical expertise to analyze and understand our competitors' inkjet printing technologies and other technologies that could potentially disrupt DOD road maps.

Job Requirements:

 

• PhD or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Electrical Engineering
• At least 5 years’ experience with a PhD or 8 years with a MS in the inkjet or dispensing industry, as designer of a printhead or a printer
• At least 8 years’ experience developing complex products integrating mechanics, electronics, and software, with at least one successful product brought to market.
• Successful experience in inkjet / multiphase flows product development
• Ability to disseminate knowledge, coach and technically supervise technical teams.
• Expertise in fluid mechanics; strong understanding of several of the following fields: rheology of complex fluids, solid mechanics, system engineering, analog electronics, software development. 
• Modelling experience, either in CFD or system modelling (Simulink, Spice...), ideally in both
• Willingness to experiment in the lab and correlate experimental and simulation/analytical results.
• Ability to manage external and academic partners, to define and technically direct their activities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to define a path to solve a complex problem, share that vision, and support the team for execution.
• Innovative, autonomous, and able to motivate others.
• Energizes, persuades, and influences others through personal credibility.

Work Arrangement : Hybrid

Salary Range : $170,000.00 - $200,000.00
