Position
Reporting to the Director of Grants, the Grants Manager is an integral contributor to the Development team and is responsible for aspects of the organization’s corporate, foundation and government grant programs. In support of the overall institutional revenue goals, this role manages the full funding lifecycle for institutional donors, from identification and qualification to prospecting, solicitation and stewardship, and ensures that all records and electronic systems associated are updated with accurate information.
With the Director of Grants, the Grants Manager helps craft the institutional giving strategy, and works with internal departments to understand organizational program priorities and funding needs.

Responsibilities
Key areas: prospect research, grant cultivation, grant applications, reports, acknowledgements, and donor stewardship.
- Build and cultivate year-round relationships with organization points of contact, key volunteers, and decision-makers within an assigned portfolio of accounts
- Manage and grow a portfolio of institutional and corporate prospects and donors with the capacity to make grants at $25,000 or more and/or support multiple programmatic areas
- Manage key personnel & oversee revenue-generating systems and processes
- Develop and collaborate on grant strategy, assist in identifying relevant grant funding opportunities, grant writing, tracking and management/reporting
- Engage in stewardship and cultivation tasks via multiple systems and platforms; conduct relevant research
- Participate in departmental briefings and similar activities
- Work collaboratively in consultative engagement with other team members and Director of Grants.
- Collaborate across teams to assist in the development of marketing and communications strategies to promote Hire Heroes USA’s image for donor cultivation and new solicitations
- Work with Executive Leadership Team to produce routine and customized reports and communications for various audiences
- Maintain awareness of program execution and milestones, and generate communications highlighting their strategic impacts for current and potential stakeholders
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Administration, related field or relevant experience
- Minimum of 3 years of fundraising and development experience
- Demonstrated successful grant writing, sponsorship, or similar experience with a nonprofit
- Excellent research, writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management experience with demonstrated ability to help teams complete tasks on time
- Strong Preference for Federal Grant Management experience, including Federal grant reporting
- Possess commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
- Self-starter, able to work independently, with an entrepreneurial spirit and with a high degree of dependability and quality
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, taking on roles and responsibilities as needs and opportunities arise
- Evidence of creative thinking, supporting problem resolution; strong desire to learn and innovate
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing priorities and multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- General office environment; temperature controlled
- Routinely uses standard office equipment, e.g. copiers, phones, computers
- Travel Required: Up to 10%
- Sitting for extended periods of time
Estimated New Hire Salary: $59,250 - $66,831 annually
