STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR -



General Statement of Job: Provide quality services to enhance students' emotional, social, and physical well-being, and development of non-cognitive skills and strategies. Responsible for training school staff to recognize warning signs and plan appropriate interventions.


Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills: Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling required. Minimum of two years' experience in the mental health field. Must have substance abuse counseling and assessment experience and


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Serve on the School MTSS Team.


§ Serve as a resource to guide program analysis and fit the needs of the identified school.
§ Provide quality services to enhance students' emotional, social, and physical well-being, and development of non-cognitive skills and strategies.
§ Train staff to recognize signs of problems and plan appropriate interventions.
§ Use appropriate methods to intervene in situations affecting student educational progress; make substance abuse treatment recommendations.
§ Provide appropriate services to students at each MTSS Tier.
§ Lead district in prevention of substance abuse initiatives and intervention strategies
§ Work with teachers and students to determine the causes of academic and behavioral difficulties and identify steps to address those identified needs.
§ Participate in student conferences as requested by the teacher.
§ Maintain an advocacy role to ensure that student educational, social, emotional, and physical needs are met in accordance with established laws and regulations.
§ Operate as an advocate by utilizing skills that respect issues of cultural and ethnic diversity and equity for every student.
§ Provide professional development to staff that address child abuse and neglect, family functioning, parent involvement, and school attendance.
§ Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
§ Act in a professional and ethical manner and comply with district policies and procedures.
