Survey Researcher (SURVEY RESEARCHER 3) | University of California Davis

University of California Davis

Location

Davis, CA | United States

Job description

Survey Researcher (SURVEY RESEARCHER 3)

Department Description

Under the guidance of the principal investigators, the Survey Researcher will employ research principles to orchestrate and participate in data collection initiatives, throughout California, for the California Farmworker Housing Study and other WCAHS affiliated projects. The role requires leveraging university policies, research protocols, and working with collaborating agencies to successfully design and conduct a statewide survey of farmworkers' housing needs and preferences.

Drawing upon experience and an understanding of community-based participatory research, the incumbent will work with a range of university researchers and outside agencies to develop and pilot an interviewer-administered (in Spanish) survey. They will collaborate with the study team to design a statewide data collection plan; travel throughout the state to conduct surveys with study participants; collect and enter data; and conduct basic analysis of the survey data. The role encompasses conducting research, designing, and validating survey instruments.

The Survey Researcher will exhibit sound judgment in selecting methodologies and techniques to arrive at effective solutions. Success in this role requires a combination of critical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and adept communication skills for dissecting and conveying research results. The Survey Researcher must exhibit effective communication with farmworkers, in farmworker community settings, engaging with agricultural employers, state funders, and academic researchers.

Executing tasks independently, the position requires initiative, responsibility, and precision, given the substantial impact of errors. This position requires the incumbent to navigate complex research issues requiring ingenuity, sound judgment, and discretion in researching, analyzing, and compiling pertinent information. This position includes extensive travel throughout California, for multiple days at a time, and requires Spanish fluency.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $65,100.00 to $72,000.00, with the contract period extending from the date of hire through June 30, 2025.
