Job description
Offit Kurman, a rapidly growing full-service law firm, seeks an experienced Credit Manager to join our team in our Columbia, MD office. The Credit Manager will support the firm and be responsible for risk assessment and credit evaluation for new client engagements and matters and monitoring performance as it relates to collections. This role is located in our Columbia, MD office; on-site work is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of policies whereby new matters require credit analysis in order to minimize the risk of loss to the firm.
- Work closely with Client Engagement and Collections team on the evaluation of credit relating to new and ongoing client matters.
- Research and evaluate credit worthiness of clients.
- Approve opening of new matters on a daily basis, identifying matters requiring further analysis and evaluation.
- Work closely with attorneys, department chairs, and General Counsel on risk assessment and evaluation.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and reviews of receivables and WIP relative to established budgets.
- Work closely with accounting team, Client Engagement team, and Collections team to research and investigate areas of credit exposure.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years accounts receivable and collections experience.
- Ability to organize time, prioritize workload and handle a high volume of new matter openings.
- Positive and proactive attitude with strong organization skills.
- Strong communications skills-written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting/billing software and ability to learn multiple different systems.
