Title: Overnight Security/Valet
Reports To: Front Office Manager
Profile: The Overnight Security/Valet Attendant provides porter and valet services to hotel guests and ensures their satisfaction and comfort by promptly and courteously responding to guest requests The Overnight Security/Valet is responsible for searching for, responding to and handling any security problems, issues, concerns and disaster emergency situations in accordance with all policies, procedures and regulations to ensure the safety and security of the hotel's assets, guests, and employees.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Patrol all areas of the hotel property including outside parking area. Note, search for, handle and report any unusual circumstances, safety violations, car theft, destruction and/or suspicious or undesirable persons and escort off property, if necessary.
- Document a concise security report on a daily log including incidents of theft, accidents and safety violations, including issues relating to Housekeeping and Engineering.
- Greets and assists arriving guests with help unloading luggage from vehicle and transporting to their room, personally carrying the luggage or using a luggage cart. Valets offer to park guest's vehicle and give claim ticket.
- Assists departing guests by transporting luggage from room to lobby, and helping the guest load luggage into vehicle. Valets retrieve vehicle and assist guest with departure.
- Responds to guest needs by promptly delivering laundry, newspapers, iron & ironing board, additional linens, etc., in person.
- Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times not with just with guests and teammates, but also with passersby whose first impression of the hotel will be the people standing outside.
- Enforces the 'No Solicitation Policy' of the hotel while respecting the open door policy of the museum.
- Walk through the property and logs any issues relating to Engineering and Housekeeping.
- Escorts and witnesses cash handling as needed.
- Uses portable radio, telephone, computer, copier.
- Attends quarterly Night Shift meeting with Night Manager/Auditor/Rooms Manager/General Manager.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to drive vehicles with manual (stick shift) and automatic transmissions.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Good communication skills, ability to recognize drug and alcohol abuse.
- Ability to communicate through a portable radio.
- Excellent hearing and speech required to communicate with guests, employees, managers, use radio.
- Excellent vision required for emergencies, visual safety inspections.
- Excellent comprehension and literacy required to complete reports, logs.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical requirements:
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying may be necessary to carry people or equipment in emergency situation.
- Mobility - would be necessary 100% of the time in responding to emergencies and patrolling the building.
- Would not be standing in one place for any extended length of time.
- Uses stairs in responding to fire alarms - no elevators.
- Work inside 85% of 8 hours; outside 15% of 8 hours.
Experience:

- Must have at least three years driving experience with a clean driving record.
Education:
- High school education or equivalent experience.

- Cleaning & Sanitizing: We have increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of our public spaces, particularly of those high-touch areas, such as door handles, handrails and elevator buttons.
- Frequent Hand Washing: All teammates are required to wash their hands frequently for at least 20 seconds while working. We have also increased the number of hand sanitizer stations throughout our property to prevent the spread of germs or other contaminants.
