Senior Buyer/Planner - Broken Arrow, OK
$70-$90k
This company is looking to hire a Senior Buyer/Planner with a strong background in manufacturing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and operational logistics (warehousing, shipping, and logistics). The successful candidate will have excellent time management and project management skills. Candidates with knowledge of manufacturing, supply chain & logistics are highly desired.
Someone who understands the culture, the rigor and the challenges of a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other departments such as with Operations, Engineering, Sales and Marketing teams to determine and maintain intermediate-term production schedules.
- Track the critical path of orders from conception to delivery. This includes but is not limited to, tracking milestones and keeping in direct communication with suppliers and customers.
- Develop and follow systems and processes to ensure adequate inventory availability.
- Own and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the NetSuite system.
- Create work orders and schedule releases according to demand and flow-down requirements.
- Monitor work order progress, ensuring on-schedule and on-time performance.
- Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
- Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, inventory, move or store materials.
- Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
- Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or determine their effect on supply chain activities.
- Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes.
- Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, or system flows.
- Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
- Design or implement warehousing strategies for production material or finished products.
- Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
- Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
- Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.
- Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, or production.
- Provide a high level of customer service to your internal and external customers
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a purchasing or supply chain management role
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Strong and effective communication skills
- Strategic thinker
