We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This position is for an experienced systems engineer as supervisor who is eager to join a DevOps cultured Systems Engineering team for the Walt Disney Company. The Lead Systems Engineer will report to the Manager, Technology.
What You’ll Do
Provisioning and supporting web and mobile ecommerce applications for a large scale enterprise environment.
Lead a small team of Sr. Systems Engineer to help prioritize workload, discuss technical challenges and coming up with solutions, participate in project Sprints planning, ability to manage any number of projects from start to finish.
Work closely with various business Engineering and
Production teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide stellar customer support.
Actively engage with Development and QA teams as well as Product/Business teams.
Leading project/planning efforts, architectural design, attending meetings w/ various teams.
Systems Administration and Application Support – Level 2 & 3 Maintenance and support
Implementing, Tuning, Automating systems and applications
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum of 7+ years of related work experience
Expert level experience with maintaining web, caching and queuing technologies in large high traffic environments.
Expert engineering and operations experience as well as a light development background in one or more languages – Ruby and Bash Shell.
Must be well versed in writing automation using Chef, Puppet or another SCM tool.
Experience with Git or similar distributed version control systems
is desirable as well as familiarity with Continuous Integration/Deployment techniques.
Strong troubleshooting SQL and NoSQL experience. Ability to ‘deep dive’ in troubleshooting applications and systems using various technologies such as New Relic, Graphite and Logstash or Splunk.
Required knowledge and understanding of technical architecture, application systems design and integration in a large heterogeneous enterprise environment with hands on experience in REST, SOA, Java/J2EE, XML, Websphere/Weblogic/Apache TomCat.
Design experience in an enterprise environment.
Experience with architecting highly scalable and highly available systems
Strong presentation skills.
Demonstrates expertise in research, often going outside of their area of individual experience.
Deep technical experience in consumer and employee facing enterprise systems
Exposure to infrastructure and platform capabilities - container, middleware, messaging, routing components
Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff; ability to articulate business issues/concerns with staff, peers, superiors, and outside parties.
Must have strong and effective communication skills working with management and other senior engineers.
Must be self-driven, leading project/planning efforts, architectural design, attending meetings w/ various teams.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
