We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Designer for our office in Livonia, Michigan.
Role and Responsibilities
- 5+ years of industrial design experience including equipment layouts, cable tray layouts, lighting layouts, heat tracing, building services, and installation details.
- 5+ years of experience with motor schematics.
- Actively participate or lead multi-disciplinary project electrical designs.
- Assist in the review and comprehension of systems and/or design layouts.
- Size system components and/or hardware proprietarily items.
- Assist in the selection of suitable components and equipment, within budget.
- Assist on the development of instillation and routing details, in compliance with applicable codes.
- Coordinate with Engineers or Project Managers for design development and inter-discipline collaboration.
- Assist in the development of project budgets, schedules, estimates, and proposals.
- Assist in defining, monitoring, and re-defining as necessary the project scope of work.
- Provide estimating support to engineers.
- Complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Pro-actively seek feedback and learning opportunities from others.
Required Skills and Experience
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD; experience with Revit an asset.
- Competent with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability and desire to learn new software, applications, knowledge, and skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to think logically and creatively.
- Organized and self-directed, task and goal oriented.
- Effective, efficient, and professional in the execution of all required tasks.
- Experience in MV/HV power system design (substation, pole line, relaying, P&C) an asset.
- Experience in VFD motor control (LV/MV) specifications/applications an asset.
Qualifications and Education Required
- High school diploma required.
- College level diploma, Technologist OR Technician.
- Membership in professional association preferred.
- 4+ years relevant working experience.
- Intermediate working knowledge of CAD.
- Ability and desire to learn new software, applications, knowledge, and skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to think logically and creatively.
- Organized and self-directed, task and goal oriented.
- Effective, efficient, and professional in the execution of all required tasks.
