Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10am to 6:30pm
Compensation: $58k-$60k DOE
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for working as a backup to the Fleet Supervisor to ensure drivers and equipment are performing as necessary in order to provide on-time service to the company’s customers in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner. In addition, prioritizing and following all DOT/FMSCA regulations and company policies and procedures. This position is also a crucial role for interactive communication and requires a good communicator to engage our driver team, and our sales and warehouse teams.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, assign, direct routes, with Fleet Supervisor through Roadnet/Omnitracs system to ensure maximize operating efficiencies.
- Train/re-train Drivers, coach/mentor, address complaints and resolve issues within the Transportation Department.
- Assist/Communicate with the Driver team to ensure they have everything they need to run their routes.
- Assist with contacting Ryder or Penske and outside motor carriers for repairs and maintenance of equipment.
- Collaborate and communicate daily with the Outbound Operations Team on loading preparation, changes and issues.
- Finalize route and equipment assignments and daily loading reports with the Fleet Supervisor and Operations Departments.
- Collect all Drivers fuel receipts, Amex receipts to be reconciled per driver at the end of each month. Reconcile each Driver’s Statement to ensure all receipts have been submitted.
- Provide information to Sales, Accounts Receivable, Customer Claims, New Accounts on driver ETA’s, proof of delivery, RGA’s, New Routes or Stops
- Assist Fleet Supervisor with Route/Stop changes
- Schedule and coordinate all 3rd party though Globaltranz
- Backup Drive
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- FMCSA/Transportation Regulation knowledge a must
- Demonstrated ability to understand, support and execute safety and regulatory compliance, including federal state and local laws pertaining to transportation
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (including 24 hour availability for receiving emergency driver phone calls)
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to exchange information effectively and in a timely manner
- Strong customer focus, results-driven and positive attitude
- Must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with impeccable follow-up skills
- Solid analytical, problem solving, strategic and innovative thinking skills
- Intermediate computer skills, Google Suite preferred, and applicable company-specific applications
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1+ years of operational experience required
- Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations impacting daily operations
- Minimum 1 year leadership and/or mechanical experience
- Class A CDL required
