Job description
McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for an Administrative Assistant in the Richmond, VA office. The assistant will support the firm’s Managing Partner and Chief of Staff with administrative tasks to include managing communications with attorneys and staff, maintaining calendars, coordinating meetings, booking travel arrangements, as well as assisting the Chief of Staff with special projects.

- Demonstrates poise and excellent interpersonal skills by communicating with attorneys and staff in-person and over the phone to provide assistance, route calls appropriately and take messages as needed.
- Assists the Chief of Staff with special projects in support of the firm’s operations.
- Tracks open action items and maintains organized files, notes and correspondence.
- Maintains calendars, schedules meetings, and arranges travel as needed.
- Takes initiative to follow up with individuals in advance of deadlines to get status reports or deliverables.
- Completes special projects which will require foundational research knowledge as well as knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and similar software packages.
- Requires high school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree preferred as is experience, preferably in a law firm or professional office environment (Spring 2024 graduates welcome to apply) .
- Must be highly organized and a self-starter with excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Requires strong multitasking skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Professional demeanor and detail-orientated.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must exercise excellent judgement and discretion. Maintain confidential information (electronic, paper and verbal).
- Ability to think clearly, react positively and evaluate situations to determine appropriate action and act decisively under pressure.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Confidence and ability to interact effectively with all levels within the firm.
- Interest in exploring the possibility of attending law school in the future is a plus.
