JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Medical Assistant in Pediatrics will work to meet the needs of the practice by providing clinical and clerical support services. They will provide clinical care to patients within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, including obtaining vitals, in-office testing/procedures (EKG's, urinalysis, draw blood, pregnancy test, etc.), administering injections, and assisting in the assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimension of patients and participate in implementing a plan of care. In this role, the Lead Medical Assistant will be responsible for training and preparing new Medical Assistants to assume functions within the practice and developing patient education information with the assistance of a provider. They will work with the Practice Manager to develop and maintain quality indicators.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Associates degree in Medical Assisting preferred
National Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or the National Center for Competency Testing required
BLS certification required
Must either have national certification upon hire or graduate from an accredited 2-year Medical Assistant program AND obtain certification within 1 year of hire
Experience:
3-5 years previous experience as a Medical Assistant
Working knowledge of office practice and procedures
Medical terminology preferred
Other Skills Required:
Must have excellent guest relation and interpersonal skills
Effective use of telephone skills
Ability to handle multiple priorities at once
Demonstrated leadership ability
