SCOPE OF POSITION: *Anticipated opening of January 2nd, 2024* The Infection Preventionist organizes and coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control program to aid in decreasing the incidence and transmission of infectious disease between residents, clients, staff, visitors, and the community. The Infection Preventionist also assists in the identification and implementation of infection prevention goals and objectives throughout the facility.

The Infection Preventionist is a vital part of our cohesive team that develops and implements systems, policies, and procedures regarding the detecting, evaluating, recording, and reporting of infection control. The Infection Preventionist assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of infection control precautions and further, monitors the infection control practices/procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing standing operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to bodily fluids. Further, the Infection Preventionist concentrates on response during an infectious outbreak in accordance with current governing rules, regulations, and guidelines. As part of our nursing leadership team, the Infection Preventionist also establishes communication with residents, families, and staff members through confirming any infectious cases identified, ensuring any exposures are properly followed up on, making rounds to the nursing units to review sanitation procedures, and educating on the best infection control practices.
Typical qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing BSN preferred.
- Must possess a current, valid, unencumbered New Hampshire LPN license, RN license preferred.
- 3 years Long Term Care (or equivalent) experience preferred.
- 3 years Infection Control (or equivalent) experience preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases and aseptic technique to include Standard (Universal) Precautions.
- Infection Preventionist Certification required and/or ability to obtain certification within 3 months.
- Maintains all memberships and certifications as required by regulation.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities and infection control practices, to include standard/universal precautions.
- Must have a working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.
- Demonstrated ability to interface collaboratively and effectively with physicians, administrators, nurses, other staff, representative of regulatory bodies, governmental agencies, consultants, resident/clients and family members.
- Demonstrated excellence in written, oral, computer and presentation skills with active and respectful listening skills.
- Must be able to cope with frequent interruptions and manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
