Description
The Formulation Chemist II will report to the R&D Manager and work closely with laboratory and other department staff. This position is responsible for development and research related to the Phos-Chek line of fire retardants.
Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Research and development with primary emphasis on improvement of current Fire Safety Products
- Design and conduct research that addresses customer needs and supports Perimeter Solutions business objectives.
- Document and report all testing procedures, results and observations in a laboratory notebook.
- Perform laboratory tests according to written procedures.
- Interface with manufacturing for new product development that will include product trials and scale up
- Provide technical support for customer-focused projects and assist in resolving product quality issues.
- Work closely and communicate technical information effectively with other departments and teams within Perimeter Solutions
- Provide documentation through written reports.
- ESH compliance
Experience/Skills:
- Proficient in writing technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
- Proficient in data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific methods
- Excellent laboratory skills
- Experienced in patent language and writing.
- Experienced in Stage Gate process and project management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills- good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and creative skills
- Demonstrated ability to work and contribute to a team setting.
- Experienced in Minitab
Requirements:
- Minimum BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum three years of experience in chemical industry working on product development and improvement of current formulations.
- Must be able to travel a minimum of 10% throughout the US and Canada
- Must be able to work after hours and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
