Overview
The Center of Occupational Health & Education (COHE) Alliance of Western WA, a part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH), is hiring a Health Service Assistant to support workers' compensation patients with their care coordination needs. COHEs are WA State Department of Labor & Industries programs that assist medical providers, employers, and injured workers to improve return to work outcomes and reduce work related disability.
Health Service Assistants (HSAs) applicants who enjoy patient file assessments, quickly checking data, entering patient information into case management systems, making outreach calls, and prioritizing activities to address any claim or treatment barriers are highly desired. They will be organized and efficient, allowing them to serve as many patients as possible without sacrificing personalized care and patience. Applicants should also be friendly and compassionate with a genuine desire to help others. Spanish speaking is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities
REMOTE Position with VMFH COHE ALLIANCE of Tacoma WA. This is a fully remote position with occasional in-person work required in the Tacoma WA area as well as visits to medical facilities in Western Washington. Q ualified candidates must be based in Western Washington.
The Health Services Assistant plays a crucial role at the Center of Occupational Health and Education by helping support coordination of health services and preventing work disability through patient outreach and assistance on Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I) Workers' Compensation claims. Health services coordination activities include:
Communicate and collaborate with patients, employers, clinicians and other L&I workers compensation stakeholders to facilitate care and return to work coordination.
Monitor post-claim initiation follow-up appointments for patients to assist with prevention and continuity of care.
Coordinate required documentation as needed to meet claim compliance.
Comply with confidentiality policies, HIPAA regulations, and organizational standards when transmitting protected patient information to external agencies and vendors as needed for placement, payment or referral.
Prioritize and manage communications relating to L&I or stakeholder requests and documents related to claim support or status determinations.
Utilize various designated EMR (electronic medical records) and/or software programs.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
High school diploma or above.
At least (3) years previous experience in direct patient care, care coordination, workers compensation return to work coordination or similar healthcare setting is required. Direct patient care includes nurse, medical assistant, nurse navigators, and care coordinators.
The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with kindness and patience.
Professionally interact with diverse stakeholders telephonically.
Preferred qualifications:
Medical terminology knowledge or certification in a medical role such as Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant.
Associate's Degree or some college in business, or a combination of education and experience to include college courses in English or Communications
Two (2) years of experience related to health care credentialing or provider relations
Two (2) years of experience in community outreach or community organizing
Two (2) years of experience with data management and data tracking
Bilingual Spanish

Starting pay is 21.09!
Pay Range
$18.83 - $25.89 /hour
