Brown & Brown is seeking a Senior Underwriter NYSIR for our team in Garden City , New York.
The Senior Underwriter position requires a strong problem solving and organization skill set with an emphasis on customer service is a MUST! As a Senior Underwriter the candidate must possess the ability to cultivate key relationships to maintain a steady stream of business while remaining within the quality standards set by company. The Senior Underwriter must be able to analyze and assess risks, provide agent/insured with tailor made solutions and calculate the required premium according to the carrier underwriting rules and guidelines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Maintain a working knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures to assist with processing within NYSIR Insurance Program guidelines.
- Must be proficient in all Underwriter skillsets.
- Answers questions or resolves problems of agents, insured's, Regional Sales Managers and company management.
- Ability to apply rules and rates to normal rating situations involving new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
- Ability to prepare quotes for agents within company established time frames.
- Ability to review and assess date of construction endorsements to apply applicable rating changes.
- Ability to understand and apply rules for Risk Rating Factor Forms, Submit for Rate - zone rating and Submit for Rate rules and regulations.
- Ability to review all Submit for Rate renewals and apply revised rating based current years rules and processes.
- Ability to explain underwriting process, and/or procedures via internal and external communication including but not limited to via phones, and/or chat.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the commitment to work successfully in a team environment and foster teamwork albeit with teammates, leadership and executive
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree required.
- Initiative and ability to resolve difficult business or interpersonal issues when needed.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a Team. Must be self-confident and self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate a comfort level in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills with product and technical knowledge desired.
