This position is for the Ship Specification group working in a design-build sustainment environment. This individual will work closely with multiple disciplines including design, components and system engineering, construction, testing, quality, cost engineering, contracts, and program offices in the research and development of new ship specification requirements and revisions to existing requirements via the submittal of Ship Specification Change Proposals (SCPs). This individual will also frequently interface with customer (NAVSEA) representatives as required. The individual will be responsible for ensuring complete specification packages are prepared and submitted to NAVSEA for approval that clearly describe proposed new requirements and/or changes with detailed rationale for all applicable cost, schedule, weight, and other impacts appropriately identified and explained. After development of submittal packages, the individual ensures accuracy and completeness and coordinates the completion of all follow-up actions. The individual is responsible for meeting submittal schedules and must be aggressive in coordinating overall efforts. Additional responsibilities will include reviewing Engineering Reports (ERs), DFAs, alterations, and contract changes for impacts to ship specifications. The individual will perform specification research and problem resolutions pertaining to Ship Specifications including primary reference documents. Primary reference documents include but are not limited to military and commercial standards, NAVSEA technical publications, design disclosure documents, and component / system specifications.

Responsibilities

Attention to detail, strong technical writing skills, and a desire to work with submarine design and construction requirements are necessary.
