Job Summary:
The Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for a part-time Dispatcher. The Dispatcher is a Department of Public Safety ( DPS ) employee who provides a vital link between DPS personnel and all other emergency and non-emergency services available to the university community. Dispatchers handle calls for service (via radio, telephone, police department lobby, and other electronic means) from throughout ETSU -owned and operated property, ensuring an appropriate response is dispatched in accordance with University policies and procedures.
The Public Safety Dispatcher also monitors and activates the mass notification system when severe weather or events occur. Dispatchers are responsible for maintaining the status of DPS personnel on shift or special assignment within the Computer Aided Dispatch ( CAD ) system. During university non-operating hours, the Dispatcher is the DPS communications representative for the university. The position is regular part-time and the shift is for weekends only.
