We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the generation and distribution activities of our utility across 59 rural villages in Alaska. The Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our power generation facilities and distribution networks, while also managing a diverse team. Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) stands as a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative, serving 59 communities across Alaska. Our operation spans 46 small, isolated grids relying on a mix of diesel, wind, and solar generation to power 11,513 meters and maintain 515 miles of distribution line.
As the Operations Manager at AVEC you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations, construction, and maintenance of power generation and distributions systems across all AVEC villages. You will lead a team in ensuring safe, efficient operations while promoting a culture of safety and compliance with regulatory requirements. The key responsibilities are to manage daily operations to provide safe, reliable power to Cooperative members, direct staff, contractors, materials, equipment, and supplies. Coordinate construction and maintenance programs in collaboration with Engineering and other departments. You will resolve technical problems, interpret manuals applicable to Operations, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies' regulations.

We offer a comprehensive pay and benefit package. Highlights include starting pay expected between $136,320 and $193,922. 401K Plan with Employer Match and Retirement Pension Plan (Defined Benefit, Employer paid pension). Paid leave (PTO) starting at 21 days per year and up to 6 weeks maximum. We also offer 8 paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays and a Birthday Holiday.
