Platform Software Engineering oversees the core technical platforms and systems for Disney’s massive suite of streaming products – including Disney+ and Hulu – and digital products and experiences – including ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. This team also drives the strategic development and use of technology, building scalable systems and products that can power a more personalized experience for Disney customers, as well as innovative work in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and 3D rendering in our studio environments. The Machine Learning (ML) Engineering team at Disney drives and enables ML usage across several domains in heterogeneous language environments and at all stages of a project’s life cycle, including ad-hoc exploration, preparing training data, model development, and robust production deployment.  The team is invested in continual innovation of the ML infrastructure itself to carefully orchestrate a continuous cycle of learning, inference, and observation while also maintaining high system availability and reliability. We seek to find new ways to scale with our guest and partner base as well as the ever-growing need for ML and experiments.

Responsibilities :

• Design, implement and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure for machine learning operations on AWS.
• Work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to understand infrastructure requirements for deploying and running machine learning models.
• Design and write automation tools to support developers deploying and running cloud infrastructure.
• Curate and contribute to a library of shared terraform modules.
• When we hit the limits of our scale, you will participate in investigations and RCA’s to continuously improve by learning from failures.
• Excellent communication and people engagement skills
• Participate in on-call rotations.
• Mentor colleagues on best practices and technical concepts of building large scale solutions

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor or above in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or another comparable field of study or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
• Expert level of experience with AWS, AWS IAM, at least 2-3 years
• Expert level experience with Kubernetes at least 2-3 years
• Expert level experience with Terraform (at least 2-3 years)
• At least 2-3 years of experience working with microservices.
• Advanced Python/Java/Go and Linux experience, at least 2-3 years
• Deep understanding of cloud networking and

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools preferably Apache Airflow.
• Build engineering/release engineering with CI/CD, at least 2-3 years
• Advanced understanding of distributed systems
• Experienced with Terraform, Spinnaker, EKS, Data platforms, relational databases, non-relational databases

#DISNEYTECH The hiring range for this position in Bristol is $136,100 – $182,400 per year, in Glendale is $136,100 – $182,400 per year, Seattle is $142,600 – $191,100 per year and New York is $142,600 – $191,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
