Biological Aide- Piping Plover/Upland Sandpiper

Position # SNL 2543 Full time less than 6 months 37.5 hours per week $ 17.46 hour to $22.93, Weekends required.



The State of New Hampshire, Fish and Game Department has a full-time seasonal vacancy for Biological Aide with an anticipated start date of April 19, 2024.

Summary:
Carries out piping plover protection efforts including monitoring nesting birds and their habitat, collecting, maintaining and summarizing data into a final report, coordinating beach management and volunteer efforts, and maintaining equipment necessary to conduct protection efforts. Assists in monitoring upland sandpipers at Pease International Trade port. April – August.

Responsibilities:



Monitors piping plovers during the breeding season.

Sets up, maintains, and disassembles project fencing.

Collects and maintains data and writes required reports.

Coordinates beach management activities among town, state and federal officials under the supervision of Nongame Program staff.

Conducts public education and outreach to beach goers and others as requested.

Maintains tools and facilities associated with the projects.

Assists with monitoring upland sandpipers during the breeding season.

Assists with other projects as assigned.





Education: Completion of high school, G.E.D. or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Three years’ experience in fisheries or wildlife conservation, commercial fishing, landscaping, carpentry, agriculture, outdoor recreation, or park management, including experience in operating or maintaining equipment.

License/Certification : Valid Driver’s License required. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the agency.
