About the Role

At the Immune Cell Engagers group in Oncology Drug Discovery, we are dedicated to the fundamental research and early drug development for innovative antibody therapeutics. Working closely together with colleagues in antibody discovery, protein engineering, translational research, data science and clinical development, we deliver first-in-class immune cell engagers to transform patient care.

We are seeking a passionate and innovative PhD Scientist who will lead the biology research, mechanistic studies and potentially contribute to drug discovery of novel immune cell-engaging antibodies towards clinical development. Working collaboratively and across disciplines you will have the opportunity to employ the latest advancements in clinical research, biology and antibody technology to develop cutting-edge tumor-targeted immune cell engagers. This position is ideal for creative, highly motivated and collaborative biologists wishing to combine their interest in oncology, cancer immunology and drug discovery to save patients’ lives.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Explore novel directions of transformative immune cell engaging modalities and lead biology research for the mechanistic understanding and potential drug discovery projects.
• Have the opportunity to contribute and/or lead early drug discovery projects in global multidisciplinary teams up to clinical trials in patients. Closely collaborate with scientists, clinicians, and technology experts across different departments in a global organization.
• Directly contribute to research activities as well as supervise lab-based scientists to generate impactful decision-driving data across multiple projects.
• Present team findings and strategic recommendations to leadership teams and board reviews.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:

•This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international).
•PhD with a minimum of 3 years prior experience in academia or industry in the field of cancer immunology and/or immunology is required
•Significant scientific accomplishments and successful collaborations documented by high impact publications is required
•Strong technical and scientific background and expertise in cancer immunology, immunology, molecular biology, and cell biology is required
Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills are required

Desirable Requirements:

•Proven success in independently initiating and leading interdisciplinary research projects is preferred
Expertise in cancer immunology, especially on T cell biology is preferred
•Proficiency in designing and executing multiplex flow cytometry experiments for complex immunophenotyping analysis, as well as related functional assays is preferred
•Prior experience on antibody drug discovery is preferred

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $107,200 - $160,800/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
