Job Summary The Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy (PMA) Division is the largest of the six academic Divisions at Caltech, with both theoretical and experimental research requirements across all three Departments.
Caltech seeks a research scientist to carry out an independent observational program in UV astrophysics, and to advise Caltech researchers on implementation approaches for small-scale space missions and projects.
Essential Job Duties Provide leadership in:
- Observational UV astrophysics.
- Space mission and project implementation.
- Making connections with industry partners for developing small space platforms.
Basic Qualifications - Ph.D. or equivalent + 15 years research experience.
- Demonstrated skills in UV astronomy and space mission platforms.
- Publication record indicating original contributions in astrophysics.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in non-traditional approaches to space mission development.
